It all started in January 1990 in a small one-room apartment on the ground floor. Three young engineers didn't want to wait any longer for the "blossoming landscape" and resigned from their (still) VEB combine in Chemnitz. An unbelievable process by GDR standards, especially in the uncertain times at the time. Today, the "legal form" would probably be described as an engineering office. The shortage economy (also in the service sector) helped to fill order books very quickly, especially in the textile industry. The main tasks were the development and implementation of special solutions using programmable logic controllers.
The situation changed abruptly with monetary union in July 1990. All orders were cancelled, there were no new ones. So all three decided to try their luck in the old federal states. One drove his Trabi north-west, one west and one south-west. We slept in the car or whatever was available. One of the goals was to bring good theoretical knowledge up to date with the latest technology. This worked very well and in mid-1991 all three met in Markgröningen near Stuttgart in what was then the electrical production facility at DÜRR®.
The manager at the time was enthusiastic about the commitment, diligence and skill of the engineers and asked "whether there was more from the east". So more employees were hired, who then all worked in Markgröningen. But not only engineers, but also well trained and committed skilled workers were needed. In a few months there were around 15 employees and the forerunner of FLEXIVA, msr-soft GmbH, was launched, which became FLEXIVA in 1995.
In 1991 the first property was acquired in Dittersdorf and expanded with a loan. With approx. 250 square meters, it offered 30 employees jobs for switch cabinet construction and construction. In 1998 the management decided to buy an old hosiery factory in the same place. Thorough renovation began again. The area has been tripled to 1026 square meters. The software and robot programming area was established. In 2015, the decision was made to build a new energy-efficient production hall (approx. 3000 square meters) in Amtsberg / Weißbach. Construction was completed in the same year and the cornerstone for optimal production processes was laid. Today FLEXIVA employs around 90 people and also has a branch in Darmstadt.
